The Atlantic Training Center welcomes juniors and adults to our new training facility.
Judo is our predominant program but we do have a Karate program on Tuesday evenings, and do conduct Self Defence courses for women. Instructors have national and international experience, are qualified through the National Coaching Certification Program and conduct classes based on programs developed in cooperation with Sport Canada and Judo Canada.
Judo can be many things to different people. It is a fun sport, an art, a dicipline, a recreational or social activity, a fitness program, a means of self-defence or combat and a way of life to many.
Introduced into the Olympic Games in 1964, Kodokan Judo comes to us from the fighting system of feudal Japan. Founded in 1882 by Dr. Jigoro Kano, judo is a refinement of the ancient marital art of Ju Jitsu.
People practice Judo to excel in competition, to stay in shape, to develop self-confidence and for many other reason. But most of all, people do Judo just for the fun of it!
